overview
We have been providing FM services to Northampton PFI project at Caroline Chisholm School from the completion of the building project in 2003. The school is one of the first 'all through' schools in the country, hosting the Centre for Learning, which cares for and educates children from the ages of 3 months to 18 years of age. There is a 54 place crèche on site, leading to a 210 place primary school and a 1,500 place secondary school, when at full capacity.
key successes
We are not only working with the schools to reduce the amount of waste produced and energy used by the school day to day, but are also involved in gaining the interest of the students. We have weighed the collected litter dropped at lunchtimes. This is reported to the school and communicated to the students, to encourage them to use the bins provided. There is also a waste compactor on site, and which has been successful in reducing waste collections by 50%.
